1. Who we are

AppassistAI ("Appassist AI", "we", "us") operates the Appassist AI resume and cover letter tailoring service. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this notice. You can reach us at AppassistAi@yahoo.com.

2. What we collect and why

• Account data — your email address, name, and login credentials, used to create and secure your account (legal basis: performance of our contract with you).
• Your content — resumes, job descriptions, and drafts you create, used to provide the tailoring service (contract performance).
• Usage data — how many generations you use each month and basic product telemetry, used to enforce plan limits and improve the service (legitimate interests).
• Technical data — IP address, device and browser information, used for security and fraud prevention (legitimate interests, legal obligation).
• Support messages — emails and reviews you send us, used to respond to you and to display public reviews you choose to post (consent / contract performance).

Payment-related data is collected and processed by Paddle (see section 3).

3. Who we share data with

• Service providers — hosting, database, authentication, and AI processing providers that help us run the service.
• Paddle — our Merchant of Record, which processes your purchase, manages your subscription, handles payments, tax compliance, and invoicing.
• Professional advisers — legal and accounting advisers where needed.
• Authorities — where required by law.

We do not sell your personal data.

4. Retention

We keep your data only as long as needed to provide the service and meet legal obligations. Data that is no longer needed is deleted or anonymised. You can delete individual applications and reviews at any time, and request account deletion by emailing us.

5. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. To exercise any of these rights, email AppassistAi@yahoo.com; we respond within one month. If you are in the UK or EEA, you also have the right to complain to your supervisory authority.

6. International transfers

Some of our service providers process data outside your country. Where data leaves the UK or EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses or adequacy decisions.

7. Security

We protect your data with appropriate technical and organisational measures, including encryption in transit, access controls, and row-level isolation of your account data.

8. Cookies

We use essential cookies (or equivalent browser storage) to keep you signed in and make the service work. We do not use marketing cookies. You can clear cookies through your browser settings, though sign-in will stop working without the essential ones.
